The Children’s Investment Fund (CIF) aims to improve facilities for children’s learning and development in low- to moderate-income neighborhoods across the state of Massachusetts. Since 2022, CIF has administered an Inclusive Futures Capital Grant Program on behalf of the Liberty Mutual Foundation, the goal of which is to support early childhood education facilities in Boston that are proposing accessibility improvements.

CIF selected KMA to support the program and its applicants from the initial grant announcements through award, design approval, and construction.  Funded projects have included renovations of outdoor play spaces, lift installations and elevator modernizations, creation of accessible toilet rooms, and more.  KMA’s team has provided critical project oversight and accessibility expertise to the program, helping to ensure the inclusion goals of the program are realized through careful attention to both regulatory requirements and inclusive design principles.

CIF’s focus on inclusion aligns well with KMA’s mission and values, making them a natural long-term partner.  KMA has been pleased to work again with CIF on a second year of funding, leveraging a combination of skills and resources to keep narrowing the opportunity gap for Boston’s most vulnerable children.
